THE RHYTHMICAL BODY
SRT & INSTANT COMPOSITION
13 – 15 March 2020
SRT is an integrative dance practice that is unique in the way it enhances technical growth and creative process.
It uses guided poetic imagery and hands- on partner studies to facilitate deep kinaesthetic experience of movement and a sense of wholeness. SRT stimulates the process of letting go of one’s tensions and holding patterns, and through that, releases new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance. We experience dynamic and multi-directional alignment and gain more freedom, strength and effortlessness in movement.
The workshop investigates how ‘rhythm’ as a fascinating phenomenon resides in our body in multiple ways and is fundamental to every movement. Different rhythmical processes such as breath, heart beat, bodily functions and movements are continuously pulsing through our organism from the very beginning of our life whether we are moving or at rest. Though these rhythmical patterns rarely emerge into our consciousness they organise and tune our actions in such a highly coordinated way that they are the foundation for our vitality and liveliness. Becoming receptive to our rhythmical nature and the pulsations, which underlie our actions creates new connections to other dancers and our surroundings. We enter a dynamic interplay that becomes a gate to our musicality and imagination leading us into captivating dancing and composing alone and with others.
