An introduction into Skinner Releasing Technique

Workshop

Date:

Location: Bern

Offering the first 3 classes of the Introductory Level of the Skinner Releasing Technique this workshop is especially for those who are new to SRT and would like to experience it.
For people who are already familiar with SRT it is an opportunity to return to the basics and deepen their practice. Be welcome!

Skinner Releasing Technique is an integrative and poetic approach to movement, dance and creative process developed by American dance artist Joan Skinner (1924-2021).
It stimulates the process of letting go of unnecessary tension, releasing new possibilities in how we perceive and how we dance. Poetic imagery and hands-on studies facilitate deep and more nuanced kinaesthetic experience of movement.
Noticing as a first step for change and allowing movement to happen are key to this practice that emphazises effortlessness, multi-directional alignment, depth, presence and freedom in movement and stillness.
Skills and artistic sensitivity acquired during the course open up new possibilities for training, creative processes, performance contexts and everyday life.

SRT:
Joan Skinner (1924-2021) created a comprehensive, progressive pedagogy that is taught at three levels: Introductory (for all those coming to the technique for the first time), Ongoing (intermediate) and Advanced.
The SRT Introductory Level comprises 15 carefully crafted classes, of which this introductory weekend covers classes 1-3. Participants are introduced to some of the basic SRT principles and - If wished - can then participate in the Summer Intensive Opening into New Territories  at akar Studio 22 – 26 July 2024.
This week proposes later material of the SRT Introductory Level and combines SRT with improvisational work and Instant Composition. Read more
