Skinner Releasing: Class 4-6

SRT is a poetic and experiential approach to dance training developed by dance artist and pedagogue Joan Skinner (1924-2021). It uses poetic imagery, shared partner work and playful movement explorations to illuminate the fascinating dialogue between our kinesthetic imagination and our movement.
The practice of letting go of unnecessary holding in the body’s tissues and allowing change and movement to happen provide new possibilities in our dancing.
At the same time, we develop trust to let our bodies lead the way, more and more, and often find a sense of wholeness.
SRT promotes a multi-directional, dynamic alignment and to move with suppleness, efficiency and articulation. This enhances a stronger presence and opens more layers in our dancing, which unfolds in the interplay of our kinesthetic imagination, movement and stillness.
Skills and artistic sensitivity acquired during the course open up new possibilities for training, creative processes, performance contexts and everyday life.

Course registration is binding and the full course fee is payable. The invoice for the course will be issued promptly.
If you cancel your registration up to 2 days before the start of the course, the course fee will be refunded minus a processing fee of CHF 50. After this date, no refund of the course fee is possible.


SRT:
Joan Skinner (1924-2021) created a comprehensive, progressive pedagogy that is taught at three levels: Introductory (for all those coming to the technique for the first time), Ongoing (intermediate) and Advanced.
The SRT Introductory Level comprises 15 carefully crafted classes, of which this introductory weekend covers classes 1-3. Participants are introduced to some of the basic SRT principles.

With the experience of SRT classes 1-6 participants can join in the Summer Intensive Expanding awareness - Embodying intuition - Skinner Releasing as a doorway into Making Dances at akar Studio 20 – 24 July 2026.
This week proposes later material of the SRT Introductory Level (e.g. SRT classes 11-15) and combines SRT with improvisational work and Instant Composition. Read more
