Technologies of Autonomy and Allowing - SRT Intensive with Bettina Neuhaus & Lizzy Le Quesne

Intensive Course

Date:

Location: Berlin

This intensive offers a rare chance to experience the full SRT Introductory Pedagogy with two internationally recognised teachers.
In this course, the 15 SRT classes are extended through creative and philosophical aspects of the Releasing process, aiming to offer a multilayered unfolding of one’s dancing and reflections related to it.

SRT is both a technical and poetic approach to dancing that enhances embodied intuition and presence, in movement and stillness.
Kinaesthetic experience of poetic imagery, music and sound, partner work and playful movement explorations are fundamental elements of SRT.  Practising letting go of unnecessary holding in the body’s tissues, and freeing the breath, we open to further possibilities of sensing and allowing and discover new dimensions of autonomy in the dance.

The 15 classes are spread across every morning and several afternoons. In some afternoon sessions, SRT principles and skills develop into creative and compositional exploration in dancing, writing and drawing. Discussions and two lecture sessions will explore conceptual, theoretical and political layers of the work.
Following the complete introductory pedagogy in one block can provide a uniquely in-depth experience and embodied understanding of the transformative process of SRT.

This intensive is accessible to all and welcomes people with and without previous experience of SRT.
For those considering progressing to the SRT teacher training in the future, repeated practice of the full series of classes is a requirement. On completion of the intensive, a certificate of attendance will be provided.

Lizzy Le Quesne and Bettina Neuhaus are independent dance artists and certified SRT practitioners working in the field of dance performance for theatres, galleries and public spaces.
In this workshop they combine their practices to develop and offer a shared vision and experience of SRT as ethical practice, supporting the technical and creative powers of presence and embodiment in a dance art that is capable of meeting the complex forces of our world.
