A celebration of dance as research, art and a way of living

July 2026

The performance was part of Reshuffling Dance, a unique week of performances, workshops and talks curated by Tuva Hildebrand and the platform Improvisation, Somatics and Artistic Research, touching on topics such as dance history and lineage, the dancer as a living archive, philosophy, politics and community.

The audience was sitting at all 4 sides around the stage and from the very beginning their attentive presence created a vibrant space that was welcoming the piece and housing it as it was unfolding.

The audience consisted mostly of dancers and included a large spectrum of different dance communities, which is rather rare for this kind of performance format. There were professional company dancers, freelancers and dancers from the local contact improvisation community as well as dancers from abroad. Usually these groups don’t tend to work together but rather remain in their own community. Before the project had started Tuva, the curator had expressed her desire to create an evening for the entire dance community of Malmö to emphasize the importance of inter-connectivity rather than separation. With this in mind it was very moving to perform for these many dancers with different backgrounds and to feel how they were holding together the space for the piece.

Furthermore, it was an extraordinary experience when once our performance had finished, everyone of the audience was invited to enter the stage and dance with the music of Herman Müntzing.
What a powerful spontaneous choreography of 40-60 dancing bodies running, swirling, rolling, jumping, catching, flying,....charging the space with heightened awareness, physicality and pulsating vitality. I’ll never forget this evening!

Thank you Tuva, Eva, Charlie, Herman and Uli and everyone else who made it such beautiful and exceptional evening.
